Gutters

We replace gutters and downspouts for homes across greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, often alongside a new roof.

Most gutter problems show up during a hard Cincinnati rain. Water spills over the front edge, a downspout dumps right next to the foundation, or a run sags and pulls away from the fascia. Sometimes the gutters were hung at the wrong pitch, so water sits in the low spots and stains the outside of the trough. In winter that standing water freezes and adds weight that pulls hangers loose. We treat gutters as part of the roof, because that is where the water comes from. When we replace gutters, we check the pitch toward each downspout, the gutter aprons and drip edge where the shingles meet the gutter, and where the downspouts discharge. If a standard apron doesn't fit your roof edge, we work out one that does. Gutters often get replaced along with a roof after hail or wind damage, and we can work with your insurance company on that claim. Expect a clear quote, photos of the work as it happens, and a clean yard when we leave, including a magnet sweep for nails. Call (513) 467-6631 and we'll come take a look.

Common questions

Should I replace my gutters at the same time as my roof?

It often makes sense, because the gutter aprons and drip edge sit right where the roof meets the gutter. If your gutters are in good shape and pitched correctly, we'll tell you to keep them. If they sag, leak at the seams or were hung at the wrong slope, doing both at once means one crew and one cleanup.

Will insurance cover gutters damaged by hail?

It depends on your policy and the damage, but hail-dented gutters are often part of a roof claim. We document what we find and can work with your insurance company during the claim.

What is a gutter apron?

It's a strip of metal that runs from under the bottom row of shingles down into the gutter. It makes sure water drops into the trough instead of running behind it and soaking the fascia. When the standard size doesn't fit a roof edge, we find one that does.
